Sarasota, Fla. – Which real estate business model is superior: one that charges a flat fee or one that charges a percentage commission? Help-U-Sell Bay Beach Realty broker/owner Dan Desmond will argue for the flat-fee business model in a sold-out debate in New Jersey next Thursday. His opponent is Scott Einbinder, a veteran real estate salesperson and consultant.
Help-U-Sell Real Estate has practiced the flat-fee business model since 1976. Company founder Don Taylor thought the idea that consumers paid high commissions, based on the sale price of a home and not on the actual cost of marketing the home, could be improved upon.

Last year, Help-U-Sell Real Estate franchise offices saved sellers $12.5 million in commission fees, when compared to a 6 percent commission.
The debate will be held at the Clarion Hotel in Toms River, N.J., and the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity.
